Editorial Policy and Methodology

SalaryLK guides are written and reviewed by the SalaryLK Editorial Team. This page explains where our numbers come from, how much weight to put on them, and how we fix mistakes.

How we estimate salaries

The salary ranges on SalaryLK are editorial estimates. We build them from publicly available information about pay in Sri Lanka, such as job advertisements, published government pay scales and information employers make public. They are not the results of a salary survey, and we do not have access to employers' payroll data.

Treat each range as a guide to the market, not a promise of what any one employer pays. Pay for the same job varies with the employer, location, qualifications, experience and negotiation.

Company pages show market estimates for comparable roles in that company's industry. They are not salaries published or confirmed by the company, and each company page says so above its table.

Tax, EPF, ETF and minimum wage

Unlike salary ranges, these are set by law, so we state them exactly and check them against official and professional sources. Last checked: 1 October 2026.

  • APIT (PAYE) for 2025/26 and 2026/27: the first LKR 150,000 a month is tax-free; above that, 6% to 36%. See the tax calculator.
  • EPF: 8% from the employee and 12% from the employer. ETF: 3% from the employer.
  • National minimum wage: LKR 30,000 a month or LKR 1,200 a day from 1 January 2026. See minimum wage in Sri Lanka.

Take-home pay tables on our guides apply these rules to the middle of each salary range. They are estimates for a resident with one employer and regular monthly pay.

Dates

The "Updated" date on each guide is the last time its content changed. Edits to page titles or site layout do not change it.

Independence

No employer, university or course provider pays to change a salary figure or a ranking on SalaryLK. Ads, where shown, are labelled and kept separate from guide content.

Corrections

If a figure looks wrong, tell us through the contact page. Include the page and, if you can, a source such as a job advert or an official circular. We review every report, and when we change a figure the page's Updated date changes with it.
